Pandemonium broke out for the third day running in the clash between policemen enforcing the Lagos State restriction on the usage of commercial motorcycles, popularly known as Okada, and tricycles, also called Keke Marwa.
The ban came into effect on February 1, 2020.
This time, the battle ground shifted to the popular Iyana Ipaja and environ.
The clash, which took place on Wednesday, resulted in the burning of a vehicle of the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency and another belonging to the police at Iyana Ipaja, sources told The Eagle Online.
The confrontation quickly spread to other adjoining areas, including Aboru-Alabede, Pipeline, Shoderu and Bakare.
The police team fired several canisters of teargas to disperse the protesters.
Fire was set up at different points on major roads with used tyres and other waste materials.
In some of the areas, policemen were accused of going beyond their mandate by arresting riders on inner streets not designated as no go areas.
Many people were reported to have been injured.
