The members of the Senate of the University of Ibadan will be meeting behind closed door over the appointment of a new Vice-Chancellor on Tuesday (today).
The meeting was announced in an invitation to members of the Senate by the university.
According to the invitation, the meeting, which will begin at about 2pm, will be presided over by the Deputy Registrar, Morenike F. Afolabi.
The Petition Appeals Committee is also due till next today.
According to a staff of the university who wishes to be anonymous, the sudden meeting is a proof of desperation.
He said: “Things are happening in UI and this portends danger for the future of the university.
“This meeting is a proof of desperation.”
Recall that the process for the appointment of a VC for the university had been put on hold following the crisis that it generated.
Another Vice Chancellor is due to take office on December 1, 2020.
