The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos, Prof. Adetokunbo Babatunde Sofoluwe, has slumped and died.
Sofoluwe, 62, reportedly slumped around 7.30pm in his office on Friday.
He was confirmed dead at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Idi Araba, Lagos.
The school, in a statement, said: “The entire university of management deeply regrets to announce the sudden death of the vice chancellor at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital Idi Araba in the early hours of Saturday 12 may 2012.
“The university community in particular staff an students are advised to pray along with the family for the repose of the soul.
“Condolence register has been opened at the Senate House for messages to the amiable accomplished scholar and astute administrator.
“Further announcement will follow in due course.”
Sofoluwe, a professor of Computer Science, was born on April 15, 1950.
He became UNILAG’s 10th Vice Chancellor on January 30, 2010,
He graduated with a Second Class Upper Division (Honours) in Special Mathematics in June 1973 from the University of Lagos.
