In the aftermath of his victory at the Supreme Court today, the Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, has called on all the citizens of the state, especially those in opposition parties, to join him in moving the state forward.
Uduaghan, who was elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, said that now that the struggle for the governorship seat has ended with the Supreme Court pronouncing him the validly elected governor of Delta State, the time had come to sheath the swords.
Uduaghan, savouring his victory at the Supreme Court in the case brought against him by the candidate of the Democratic Peoples Party in the April 2011 governorship election, said that he was willing to accommodate all shades of opinion.
Writing on the wall of his social media network, Facebook, Uduaghan appealed to the opposition to bring whatever idea they have that made them wanted to govern the state on board so that the state can move forward.
He wrote on his Facebook wall: “I am happy it has been a long drawn battle; we have come a long way. I think finally as far as the issues of election is concerned, l think this is the final bus stop. I am happy about that and give glory to God.
“It gives us a lot of challenges as a state, challenges of unity, challenges of development and challenges of coming together as a state.
We have the potentials, we have the human resources, we have the material resources, it is for us to be able to harness these resources together and move this state forward.
“I am extending my hand of fellowship to every Deltan, no matter who you are, no matter where you are, be part of this new move to develop our state.
“I cannot be weary because it has come to an end at least as far as the judiciary is concerned. “Like l said, what is left now is for us to come together to move the state forward.
“My message for opponents is to come on board and let’s move the state forward. The court issue is over, l don’t think there is anywhere any person can go again.
“Whatever ideas you had that made you to say you want to govern the state, bring it on board, let us look at it and let’s see if they are things that are possible; of course we will take them and move the state forward.
“Let me thank every Deltan who has been quite patient all this while. There is no doubt there has been a lot of distractions for the state.
“My message is that every Deltan should be patient with us, co-operate with us, join us in moving Delta State forward.”
