Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has named Nigerian international, Kelechi Iheanacho, in his 21-man squad to face Barcelona at the Camp Nou on Wednesday.
Iheanacho, who has failed to hit the back of the net after two games in the Premier League, was listed along with Raheem Sterling, Sergio Aguero and Nolito as strikers for the tie.
Guardiola and his players were photographed at the airport as they prepared for the showdown with the Catalan giants.
The City boss looked relaxed ahead of his return to his former club, where he won Europe’s premier club competition twice as a manager.
Barcelona lie two points ahead of City in Group C following the Blues’ draw with Celtic last time out.
Vincent Kompany and Kevin De Bruyne made the cut, while Bacary Sagna and Fabian Delph were the key absentees from the senior ranks.
Pablo Maffeo was the chief beneficiary from Sagna’s injury problems and is one of the youngest of the travelling party, together with goalkeeper Angus Gunn.
Pablo Zabaleta was also among the travelling party and is a natural right back choice, but Guardiola’s experiment with three at the back against Everton suggests he could have an alternative up his sleeve.
One of City’s most potent weapons, Aguero, scored the away goal in Barcelona when the two met in the knockout stages in 2015, and has 11 goals in his nine appearances so far this term as he continues to flourish under Guardiola’s attacking philosophy
Eamonn and James Clarke
The confirmed City squad members for Barcelona are: Claudio Bravo, Willy Caballero, Angus Gunn, Gael Clichy, Aleksandar Kolarov, Vincent Kompany, Pablo Maffeo, Nicolas Otamendi, John Stones, Pablo Zabaleta, Kevin De Bruyne, Fernando, Fernandinho, Ilkay Gündogan, Jesus Navas, Leroy Sané, David Silva, Raheem Sterling, Sergio Aguero, Kelechi Iheanacho, Nolito.
