Two men were over the weekend arrested with over $2 million at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos, Nigeria as they made to leave the country.
The men, whose destination was not disclosed, were arrested by the Airport Committee Special Task Force with $2,073,160 and Saudi Arabian Riyal SAR20,300 at the departure area of ‘E’ Wing of the airport.
The men were identified as Talal Hammoud, with International passport number A03599105, and Hassan Rmaiti, a staff of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, with Duty Card no: 25009.
The Area Comptroller the Nigeria Customs Service at the airport, Eporwei Edike Charles, said the suspects and the funds have been transferred to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for further investigation.
Hammoud and Rmaiti carried the money in three bags.
