Two members of the House of Representatives from Cross Rivers State, Lego Idagbo and Michael Etaba, have defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Party (APC).
The defection was announced on Tuesday by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila.
Idagbo represents Beckwara/Obudu/Obanliku Federal Constituency, while Etaba represents Obubra/Etung Federal Constituency of Cross River State.
In separate letters read by the speaker, the two lawmakers cited the crisis in the PDP as the reason for their defection.
The announcement generated applause and cheers from some members of the ruling party.
Idagbo is a close ally of Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River, who earlier also crossed over to the ruling party.
