The state secretariat of the African Democratic Congress has been vandalized by suspected thugs in Jos-North Local Government Area of Plateau State.
This came barely 24 hours after the presidential candidate of the party, Ambassador Mani Ibrahim Ahmad, and the Chairman of the party and the gubernatorial flag-bearer in Plateau State, Hon. Sabiu Musa, flagged-off their campaign in the state.
Musa narrated that unknown youths came in their number shortly after the flag-off and vandalized the office and the documents of the party.
He told journalists on Friday that he suspects that they might have been sponsored by opposition parties in the state.
The gubernatorial candidate condemned the action, stressing the need for security agents to fish out the perpetrators and to help government in curtailing lawlessness.
He said: “Security personnel should take proactive measures and flush out criminals to ensure that this country is safe and should do anything possible to secure lives and properties of Nigerians, especially at this period of electioneering campaign.”
Musa assured his supporters of delivery the dividend of democracy if elected as the governor of Plateau State.
Hon. Sani Abdul, the Jos-North House of Assembly candidate, said the irate youth vandalized and destroyed campaign posters and some valuable documents inside the office.
Abdul expressed sadness and condemned in its totality the handiwork of detractors and blackmailers.
The state Secretary of the ADC, Mubarak Yusuf, said all the party’s documents were destroyed, including the billboard of “our presidential and gubernatorial candidates”.
Yusuf called on security agents “to go after those boys who did the act”.
