The forthcoming Food and Beverage Exhibition, West Africa billed to hold in Lagos State has tore the Master Bakers’ and Caterers’ Association of Nigeria apart.
The crisis assumed a new twist on Sunday in Asaba, the Delta State capital, as the National Publicity Secretary of the association, Jude Okafor, declared the exhibition as “fraudulent”, warning members to shun it.
Okafor regretted that one Jacob Anjorin, who posed as the National President of the association and spoke glowingly during a visit by managers of 151 Products Limited, the organizers of the aforementioned event, about the association’s total commitment to attending the exhibition, was fake.
According to him, Anjorin’s comment was not only dubious but amounted to impersonation.
The visibly angry Okafor in Asaba, on Sunday, who said the authentic president of the association is Simeon Abanulor, threatened that the matter would not be taken up.
He explained that after a thorough check with Abanulor and other top members of the association, it was concluded that the forthcoming exhibition, which is billed for Lagos State, was fake and was being organized by impostors.
He said: “To the best of my knowledge, the president of the association is Abanulor and not Anjorin.
“We do not have any Anjorin even as a member of our exco.
“We are not planning any exhibition.
“That story is fake.”
Okafor warned his fellow bakers and caterers to beware of faceless persons and groups now masquerading round the streets to extort money from unsuspecting members in the name of exhibition.
