Chelsea ace Tammy Abraham has told his club it is now or never over breaking into the first-team this season as Frank Lampard nears a move.
Chelsea have been slapped with a transfer ban that prevents them from signing new players.
The punishment was handed out by FIFA and it means that this transfer window and the next in January are irrelevant for the Blues.
With Maurizio Sarri and Eden Hazard both departing, it leaves the west London outfit in a spot of bother.
But solutions are already being worked out – with Chelsea legend Lampard being lined up to take the helm.
His No.2 at Derby Jody Morris is expected to follow him, and the 40-year-old was incredibly successful in his role as Chelsea academy boss.
Under his tutelage, the Stamford Bridge starlets won the FA Youth Cup and Under-18 Premier League twice each.
In that winning squad included Abraham, who has since been carted out on loan to the likes of Bristol City, Swansea and Aston Villa.
And it was the season just gone that has showcased the 21-year-old’s talents, scoring 25 goals for Villa helping them to promotion to the Premier League.
But the England Under-21 international has stated that this season will be make or break for him and many other youth products at the Blues.
“This year is the most important year for us. It is now or never,” he said.
“There will never be a better time to play the youngsters. Of course the transfer ban is probably not what the club wanted but for us it is exciting.
“I am excited and I am sure the rest of the players are.
“There is a great chance for us young players so we must get our heads down in training and go for it at Chelsea.
“I have already been talking to the club about pre-season. I’m going to have a couple of weeks and then come back hitting the ground running.
“There is no better time for a young player to be at Chelsea. I am going to give it my all.
“With a new manager coming in there is no better time to show what I am made of in pre-season. I am just buzzing at the thought of the new season.”
