In a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Egbeola Wale Martins, the  party strongly condemned the latest killings in 11 villages in Plateau State, where over 80 innocent people were confirmed killed by rampaging herdsmen, who he said had become a more worrisome security threat than the once dreaded Boko Haram sect.

Aare Adams said the murder of innocent Nigerians by suspected killer herdsmen was one killing too many.

I have been inundated with calls to speak up against this. But each time I pick my pen to write about the killings and destructions of lives of innocent Nigerians, I feel I am exposing my weaknesses as a young Nigerian who would have looked for reliable and sustainable solution rather than waiting to lament and protest on the streets, pages of papers and social media after each attack.

This simple logic has made it impossible these days to ignore the harsh reality in Nigeria that a cow is worth more than one human life under the present socio-political firmament in the country.

Speaking at an interactive session with stakeholders in Plateau State in the aftermath of the recent killings in some communities, the President urged traditional and community leaders to complement government efforts by persuading their constituencies to tolerate one another for peace and unity in the country.

It would be recalled that within the last two days over 80 persons were killed in the state from attacks on nine communities.

Several Nigerians were reportedly murdered by armed men believed to be herdsmen in Barkin Ladi, Plateau State.
