President Goodluck Jonathan on Friday directed the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Alhaji Isa Sali, to immediately commence disciplinary action against Maina for absconding from duty.
According to the presidential spokesperson, President Jonathan does not need to personally sack him, insisting that Maina, being a civil servant, could only be disciplined by the Head of Service of the Federation in line with laid down civil service rules
The Senate on Wednesday gave President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan 48 hours within which to sack Maina
This followed the bench warrant issued on him by the Senate through the Senate Pension Probe Committee and his subsequent declaration as wanted by the police
