Ogbuku, who spoke during the closing ceremony of the Girl Child Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, STEM competition in Port Harcourt, explained that the initiative was aimed at fostering scientific and technological advancement among young girls in the Niger Delta region.

The prestigious Independent Awards 2024 ceremony was held at the Convention Centre, Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos State.
The President gave the charge when he met with the leaders of Pan Niger Delta Forum at the Council Chambers in the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The historic ceremony was performed by Governor Uzodinma in Owerri, the Imo State capital, a statement issued on Friday said.
Speaking during a capacity-building programme in Port Harcourt, the Chairman of the NDDC Board, Chiedu Ebie, said it was necessary to equip traditional rulers, clergy, and community leaders with effective strategies for resolving disputes and fostering regional peace
Ebie gave the assurance during an inspection of a 1.2-kilometer-long bridge on the road.
The award was presented to Ogbuku by the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu, during the Sun 2024 Awards held at the Convention Centre, Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Speaking at the Niger Delta Arts and Culture Expo organised by the NDDC in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, the Commission’s Managing Director, Dr Samuel Ogbuku, emphasised the importance of preserving and promoting the unique traditions of the Niger Delta people.
He also launched the reconstruction of the Mgboji-Umuagbu Akwete Road, linking Rivers, Abia, and Akwa Ibom states.
This initiative aims to educate and inspire young girls on the importance of education, self-worth, and the need to pursue their aspirations confidently.
Ebie extended his condolences to the Clark-Fuludu Bekederemo family of Kiagbodo Town in Delta over the loss of their patriarch.
He stated: “The law is clear, and I think it is in Section 3, which states that if you’re appointed for four years, it is renewable for another four years. I believe the law’s drafters appreciated the need for stability and continuity. They understood that projects, programmes, and plans would be negatively affected without stability and continuity.”
Ebie, who gave the assurance during the two-day Board and Management Retreat of the NDDC in Ikeja, Lagos State, said “the Commission was building on the foundation it established in 2024 to refine our strategies for enhancing operations to achieve greater efficiency and effectiveness.”
Speaking at the event in Uyo, the NDDC Managing Director, Dr Samuel Ogbuku, urged the physically challenged persons to embrace their uniqueness and not feel inferior due to their disabilities.
Ogbuku stated this when the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 6 Division of the Nigerian Army in Rivers State, Major General Emmanuel Ejim-Emekah, paid him a courtesy visit at the NDDC headquarters in Port Harcourt.
The reaction was contained in a statement in the early hours of Monday by its Director of Corporate Affairs, Seledi Thompson-Wakama.
They all expressed their feelings at a stakeholders meeting with the NDDC and heads of sports in the states, held at the NDDC Headquarters, Port Harcourt, Riviera State recently.

With the successful completion of the selection of beneficiaries and their ongoing placement in organisations for practical experience, the payment of the monthly stipends has also taken effect.
