Omoshalewa Taiwo, one of the 22 victims of the Ijegun pipeline explosion in Lagos, has expressed gratitude to the state government for taking responsibility for his treatment.

The Lagos State Government said it has so far expended over N10 million to care for victims of the Ijegun pipeline explosion, adding that the survivors of the inferno are receiving adequate and quality care at designated government facilities free of charge.
Six victims out of the 13 persons rescued by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency during the July 4, 2019 pipeline explosion fire at Ijegun, Igando/Ikotun Local Council Development Area, Lagos State have died.
Ndu Ughamadu, the Group General Manager, Public Affairs of NNPC, told the News Agency of Nigeria on telephone in Abuja that the explosion was caused by vandals and the Group Managing Director, Dr. Maikanti Baru, has directed the corporation’s team of engineers to resume at the fire scene and redress the situation.
