Goni said the World Rangers Day is celebrated round the world on July 31 to commemorate rangers killed or injured in the line of duty and to celebrate the bravery of those on the field.
Alhaji Ibrahim Goni, the Conservator General, National Parks Service, on Saturday said the service had taken measures to reposition the national park, to meet world standards.
The Conservator-General of the park, Alhaji Ibrahim Goni, in his farewell message in Abuja recalled the stewardship of the duo, saying that their retirement from the park had created a great vacuum in the organisation.
Goni made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja on Friday.
The Conservator-General of Nigeria National Park Service, Alhaji Ibrahim Goni, says the Federal Government is set to commercialise three National Parks to key into the Economy Recovery and Growth Plan to diversify the economy.
The Federal Government says it is on the processes of joining the global Green List Programme for Conservation and Protected Areas, an International Union for the Conservation of Nature to achieve biodiversity.
He said that since one of the roles of the service was to protect the environment and indigenous genetic resources, it would be upgraded to international standard to enable it to attract more tourists.
Goni said the country’s parks were endowed with diverse natural resources which offered alternative options for economic development via tourism, research, education and employment generation.
