The approval given by the State Executive Council in Yenagoa on Friday provided N1 billion each for the two agencies to improve community development and basic education.

The session, which was sequel to the dissolution of the committee, was held at his Maitama Lodge in Abuja and attended by almost all committee members, including a former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ibrahim Mantu; former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Abba Gana; current member of the Senate from Gombe South, Senator Joshua Lidan; Ambassador Umaru Damagun; and member, PDP Board of Trustees, Hajiya Hauwa Musa Kida.
A statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Daniel Iworiso-Markson, said the governor made the confirmation in Yenagoa when he played host to labour leaders in the state.
The Governor, who presented the Letter of the Honorary Ambassadorial Award to the literary icon on Friday in the Government House, Yenagoa, said the honour was bestowed on Soyinka because of his achievements and democratization of knowledge across the world.
They stated this at an event tagged: “A Day with Nobel laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, and Ijaw Literary Icons”
Gowon, who made the commendation at the official commissioning of the new Governor’s Office complex in Government House, Yenagoa, described the edifice as exceptionally beautiful.

On the occasion, Gowon commended Governor Seriake Dickson for the development strides of his administration
