The Governor, who spoke in Lagos during an interaction with journalists, said he presented the EEC to investors at the just concluded Africa Investment Forum held in Johannesburg, South Africa.
To clinch the coveted prize, the Enyimba Economic City beat several other participating Cities from around the world, including Blackstone Charter Cities of Australia and Novgorod New Hanse Town of Russia, which came second and third respectively.
Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia says 700,000 new jobs will be created in the state in the next 10 years as part of deliberate efforts to address the challenges of insecurity and socio-economic unrest.
The Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, has dedicated his 2018 AIT Outstanding Performance in Industrialization and Infrastructural Development award, to shoemakers, tailors and other artisans in Aba, the commercial capital of Abia State.
The partnership is one of many under a programme to develop Special Economic Zones in the country, for which stakeholder engagement is ongoing.

President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State on Friday witnessed the signing of agreement between the Federal Government and Abia State Government on the establishment of Enyimba Economic City in the state.
Abia Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has urged Nigerians and other nationals contemplating investing to invest in Aba, whose great investment potential would soon double with Enyimba Economic City construction.
Ikpeazu made the pledge at a meeting in Aba with the stakeholders of Ukwa East, Ukwa West and Ugwunagbo local government areas where the city is to sited.
The Abia Economic Enhancement Team says the state government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with two firms for the development of an industrial cluster tagged “Enyimba Economic City’’.
Ikpeazu, who disclosed this on the News Agency of Nigeria Forum in Abuja, said that the private-sector-driven city was an audacious project.
Besides, he said that the “City” would be a business community that would close the economic gaps in the South-East and South-South.
Governor Okezie Ikpeazu made this known when he briefed heads of media houses in the state at the Abia Government Lodge, Aba on Sunday as part of efforts to industrialise the state since he assumed office in 2015.
