Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, who was the Acting President, then represented President Buhari at the burial where he announced the decision of the Federal Government to rename the Federal University, Oye Ekiti as Adeyinka Adebayo University in recognition of the exemplary leadership of the late hero and frontline Statesman.

In an ideal situation, politics is a field for people who are already personally and professionally accomplished and are thus not inclined to derive their sense of purpose, worth and self-esteem from transient positions. As a result, such individuals can leave office as gracefully and as unobtrusively as they entered it. In reality, such unaffected personalities, while they actually do exist in our space, are rarities and outliers. One such rarity is Otunba Richard Adeniyi Adebayo, my Egbon, leader and predecessor in office and a man that I have been privileged to know as a friend, ally, mentor and confidante, and whose 60th birthday today necessitates this tribute from me.

The governor also donated 300 laptop computers to them and singling out an outstanding graduate of English from Obafemi Awolowo University, 25-year-old Fajana Olabisi Motinoluwa from Ekiti East Local Area of the state, who had also won gold medal for the state in Essay competitions, the governor promised her a scholarship for Masters degree programme and a government job after completion.
