“We have told Ekiti people that as at October 15, 2010 that Governor Kayode Fayemi assumed office, total Bank Borrowings was N7.5 billion taken against outstanding staff loan of N3.4 billion being deducted monthly from public servants salaries and N5 billion cash balances in counterpart funding accounts of Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB)

The other recipients of the prestigious award, held at the Civic centre, Victoria Island, Lagos State on Saturday evening, are Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Honourable Aminu Tambuwal; the Kano State Governor, Alhaji Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso; the Managing Director of Fidelity Bank, Reginald Ihejiahi; and the former Managing Director, Nigerian Breweries, Chief Festus Odumegwu

Fayemi, whose administration’s free health programme has benefitted no fewer than 720,000 citizens, said the six newly purchased ambulances, which will complement the ones earlier purchased, are different from the typical ambulances as they are basically intensive care unit vehicles where minor surgeries can be carried out before a patient is transported to the nearest health facility

The governor, who made this known in Ado Ekiti at the swearing in of two newly appointed Permanent Secretaries, said his administration would continue to avail workers enough capacity development opportunities in order to meet immediate gaps as well as assist the workforce so that they would not be left behind in the acquisition of up-to-date knowledge in their various fields

Opening the 128-stall Awedele Neighbouhood Market, Fayemi said the new stalls were constructed to provide alternative market for traders, who were displaced at the Bisi Market, which was partly demolished to pave the way for the recently completed Atikankan-First Baptist Road, now Funmi Olayinka Drive

Fayemi, who also presented a Sports utility Vehicle as retirement gift to the Ekiti State born Bishop shortly after the service, said Adebiyi deserved more than a mere gift because he has consistently exemplified the values of integrity, honesty and courage for which Ekitis are known
