Nigeria-as did all the countries in developing world -came here to say we are eager to contribute to a greener planet , even though we are, for all practical purposes, non-emitters – Africa on the overall is responsible for a mere five percent of global emissions – we are nonetheless feeling cheated, oppressed and lied to by the rich nations.

The President expressed the optimism at the Climate Change Summit, COP 26, side event on the Great Green Wall (GGW), co-hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron, the Prince of Wales, and the Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Ghazouani.
In a communique released over the weekend, the participants also urged the State Government to put in place appropriate framework for accessing climate finance utilising the direct and indirect strategies for raising climate capital.
Briefing the media in Lagos on Sunday about plans for the summit which comes up between Tuesday, June 8 and Wednesday June 9, 2021, Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tunji Bello said the summit is being resuscitated by Mr Governor after a five-year lull.
