Female artists, particularly Ayra Starr and Tems, are leading the charge with top-ranking hits following their recent album releases. The list also underscores the prevalence of international collaborations, with eight of the top ten tracks featuring partnerships with global superstars. These collaborations, ranging from Pheelz with Usher to Burna Boy with 21 Savage and Metro Boomin, demonstrate the cross-cultural appeal and growing global impact of Nigerian music.
Monica Kemoli-Savanne, Spotify’s Senior Artiste and Label Partnerships Manager, Sub-Saharan Africa, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday.
The past few years have been a clear testament to the growth of African music globally, and this year, Spotify’s RADAR Africa program is shining a spotlight on the continent’s rising stars. Joining the ranks of previous RADAR Alumni such as Ayra Starr, Victony, BNXN, and Bloody Civilian from Nigeria, Shallipopi is the latest addition to the RADAR Africa list. Hailing from Eswatini, Manana who is South-African based follows in the footsteps of luminaries like Tyla and DBN Gogo, representing his nation’s thriving music scene.
Ayra took to her social media pages to surprise her fans with an artwork and tracklist for her upcoming sophomore album.
Burna Boy, who bagged four nominations, was joined by Davido, who earned three nominations in his debut.
According to the list released on Friday, the five Nigerian artists made the nomination list in different categories.
The ‘African Giant’ crooner beat the likes of Ayra Starr, Central Cee and Stormzy, among others to clinch the most coveted category of BET awards.

This batch of artists follows in the footsteps of other African talents like Elaine, Willy Cardiac, Tems and Focalistic who all joined the programme in 2020 and were exposed to new global fan communities on the platform as a result.
