In a statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday, the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said the government is aware that some opportunists have been going from one government organization to another with notes purportedly recommending them for contracts and other patronage

He said: “Permit me to start my remarks by commending the Nigerian Guild of Editors for the well-thought-out theme for this 2016 Conference, which is: ‘Economic Diversification: Agriculture as an option for a prosperous Nigeria.’ As you are all very much aware, Agriculture is one of the sectors we have identified in our economic diversification programme, aimed at moving the country away from a mono-product, oil-based economy, under our Change Mantra.

Mohammed said each part of the country has its unique and peculiar challenges and that sustained and robust engagement through the town hall meetings will provide the veritable platform to correct some of the misconceptions and throw more light on government’s policies and programme

“The Durbar has been with us for a very long, but over the ages it has proved its flexibility and its sensitivity to adaptation to changing circumstances,” the Minister said in Paris, on Monday at the inauguration of the Exhibition: “Durbar in Northern Nigeria,” at the UNESCO headquarters in the French capital

Mohammed said the Committee would commence the audit of procurement from 2007 to 2010 as soon as the necessary documents are available.
“When the documents regarding procurement from 2007 to 2010 are available and scrutinized, the committee will then issue its report on that. The audit is being done on phases, and the report that was released on Thursday is the third of such,” the Minister said

Speaking at the 6th African Digital TV Development Seminar in Beijing, China on Thursday, the Minister said the decision to engage in shared experiences and synergy on a continental level was reached by the African Ministers in charge of Information and Communication, who attended the 3rd Forum on China-Africa Media Cooperation also in Beijing, which preceded the Seminar
