The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, stated this on Tuesday when he featured on: “Politics Nationwide,” a Radio Nigeria call-in programme, monitored by the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja.

In a statement by its President, Mustapha Isah, and General Secretary, Iyobosa Uwugiaren, the NGE said the Federal Government’s action has the unintended consequence of jeopardising the economic interests of many Nigerians who rely on the social media platform for vital information to make informed business decisions daily.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, announced the reappointment in a statement issued in Abuja on Thursday.

The Minister, who gave the assurance while receiving the Oluyin of Iyin-Ekiti, Oba Adeola Adeniyi Ajakaiye, on a courtesy visit to his office in Abuja on Thursday, urged Nigerians not to succumb to the apocalyptic or doomsday predictions about the country because such predictions won’t come to pass.

The test implies that one can identify a subject by observing its/his or her habitual characteristics and actions.  With the duck test, I am scrutinizing the role of the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed who, in February, announced himself the chairman of the Ministerial Task Force on the Federal Government’s Digital Switchover (DSO) programme. Since then, and, of course, before, the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), which should drive the DSO programme, has become an extra in its own movie.

Two months ago at a press conference to unveil members of the Ministerial Task Force on the DSO, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, Minister of Information and Culture, said the body now has all it needs to complete the programme, which has endured a three-year hiatus on the back of many disruptions and inability to meet two deadlines.
