The Super Eagles struggled to a goalless draw against Wasp of Rwanda the African Cup of Nations qualifiers decided in Kigali today.
After a promising start, a blend of foreign and home based Nigerian side was forced into their half by a determined Rwanda side.
Double booking for Rwanda as Hussein Mbanza and Jean Baptiste Mugireneza received yellow card midway into the first half.
It was glaring that Eagles’ attacking line of Yakubu Aiyegbeni and Osaze Odenwinge lacked bite and the midfield was totally uncoordinated.
Hundreds of Nigerian fans at the stadium cheered the Stephen Keshi-led side endlessly but the goals refused to come.
In spite of little resistance from the home side, Super Eagles failed to create any clear cut chances for the better part of the first stanza and look far from being confident.
Second half resumed with the defence of Eagles looking shaky, but the Rwandans failed to take advantage of it.
In the 60th minute of play, Ahmed Musa was substituted as England-based Victor Moses made his debut for Nigeria.
This was followed by another change with the introduction of Ikechukwu Uche for Osaze Odenwingie as the Nigeria coach intensified search for goal.
Hussein of Rwanda was also replaced by Bokota Kamana in the 62nd minute.
Rwanda misses a goal-bound ball and Ike Uche’s 60th min goal was ruled offside.
