The presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 elections in Nigeria, Peter Obi, has visited the victims of the attack on worshippers at a Kano mosque.
The former two-term governor of Anambra State paid the visit after commiserating with the victims on his X handle.
In a lengthy tweet, Obi said: “I am deeply saddened by the horrific and devastating terror attack that occurred on May 16, 2024, at Gezawa local government area of Kano State during the morning prayer session.
“A suspected terrorist had carried out a petrol bomb attack on the mosque killing at least 11 people, while many others who sustained varying degrees of injuries are still receiving treatment at the hospital.
“This senseless act of violence has sent shockwaves throughout the community, leaving everyone in a state of grief and disbelief.
“The fact that it occurred in a place of worship, where people gather to find peace and solace, makes it even more heart-wrenching.
“I sincerely condole with the Government of Kano State; the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero and the people of Kano, over this very sad incident.
“I extend my thoughts and prayers, specially, to the families of the victims, and I wish a speedy recovery to those still fighting for their lives.
