Stoke boss plays down Moses new deal

Stoke Chairman, Peter Coates, says it is far too early to say whether they will pursue a permanent deal for Victor Moses.

The Chelsea winger has lost his way since moving to Stamford Bridge from Wigan two years ago, but is showing signs that he is getting back to his best while on loan with the Potters.

Moses has impressed during his short time at the Britannia Stadium and put in his best performance yet as he set up the winning goal for Peter Crouch against Newcastle on Monday night.

The Nigerian is unlikely to have a future at Chelsea even if he shines all season, and there is already talk that a permanent deal could happen at the end of the season.

However Coates has played that down and says there is a long way to go before a permanent deal is discussed.

“Although we are delighted with the start he has made for us, it is still very early days and so where that one goes I have no idea,” Coates said.

“We haven’t even discussed it yet because we are so early into the season and such a lot can happen, so there is no sense of urgency. I’m just pleased with what he has produced so far and pleased that we have him for the whole season.

“He’s hard-working, quick, clever and looks a very good player.

“He’s not played a lot of games, so who knows, he could improve. But it’s certainly nice for him as well to have got off to such a good start with us.”
