Stocks impress at NSE, All-Share Index up by 672.96 points

Transactions on the Nigerian Stock Exchange ended on a positive note on Friday with the All-Share Index appreciating by 672.96 points to close at 39,558.89 points.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the performance was 1.73 per cent improvement on the 38,885.93 points recorded on Thursday.
Also, market capitalisation rose by N216 billion or 1.73 per cent to close at N12.71trillion compared with N12.49 trillion attained on Thursday.
Nestle led the gainers’ table, appreciating by N28.69 to close at N1,100 per share.
It was followed by Guinness, which gained N17.54 to close at N197.90 per share.
Shares of Nigerian Breweries appreciated by N7 to close at N152 each, while UACN chalked up N3.97 to close at N65.22 per share.
Similarly, the value of Dangote Cement stock rose by N3 to close at N240 per share.
Conversely, CCNN topped the losers’ chart, dropping 46k to close at N9.24 per share.
Flour Mills trailed with a loss of 38k to close at N78 per share while Portpaint lost 28k to close at N5.49 per share.
Also, Redstarex dropped 22k to close at N4.40 while Academy Press lost 21k to close at N1.99 per share at the end of the transactions.
NAN reports that the volume of shares traded improved by 143.25 per cent with 479.44 million shares worth N12.75 billion traded in 1,206 deals.
This was against the 197.10 million shares valued at N2.10 billion exchanged in 4,228 deals on Thursday.
Afriprud emerged the most traded stock with 121.34 million shares worth N482.38 million.
Zenith Bank followed with 73.17 million shares valued at N1.49 billion while Nigerian Breweries exchanged 57.05 million shares worth N8.13 billion.
Diamond Bank sold 45.41 million shares worth N299.69 million while FBN Holdings accounted for 37.54 million shares valued at N502.85 million.
