Capital Futbol Nigeria, an Abuja based 5-aside football centre, says plans are underway to hold Capital League season `3’ football championship in Abuja.
Aturu Olumide, a board member of the football group, said this at a news conference in Abuja on Sunday.
According to him, Capital Futbol is an esteemed organisation that manages football related activities aimed at promoting the growth and development of football at the grassroots in Nigeria.
Olumide said: “We organise and manage Abuja premier non-professional 5-aside league. Our first edition was held between July and September 2016.
“The second edition was held between July and September 2017 and Capital Cup held between December 2016 and 2017 respectively.
“We aim to promote and encourage football at the grassroots level for the promotion of sports in the country.”
The board member called on interested teams to register for the competition slated to commence from August 11 to October 28 at Planet Futsal, Utako, Abuja.
Olumide said the 5-aside football competition would have a league structure where participating teams would play against each other up to finals.
He said that this year’s competition was aimed at creating awareness on the importance of sports and fitness for the development of sports in the country.
He said: ‘‘People should deliberately plan to be healthy through regular exercise for fitness, this starts through dedication to sporting activities.
‘‘We have no age limit for the competition and it will be beneficial if we are making exercise a consistent part of life from young age.’’
Olumide said other side attractions during the competition would include; aerobics, table tennis, sack races, penalty kick challenges and other fun fitness activities.
He said at the end of the competition, the winners would be awarded cash prizes, trophy’s, medals, awards for best player and consolation prizes for participating teams.
