Afrobeat musician, Seun Kuti, has launched THC, a tee shirt line.
Taking to his Facebook account on Thursday to make the announcement, Kuti, who is currently in the United States of America leg of his international tour of Europe and America, posted: “Excited about the 2015 tee shirt line.
“THC#thehighercounsciousness.#seunkuti&egypt80 available at every show.”
The musician also posted four different images of himself decked in the T-Shirts produced by the clothing line.
THC or The Higher Consciousness, which Kuti refers to, is a play on THC, the short form of Tetrahydrocannabinol, the active ingredient in the cannabis plant.
Responding to a comment asking if it was a coincidence that THC, the name of the brand, is also the active ingredient in marijuana, Kuti said: “If u zoom the shirt on the boss, then u will have ur answer.”
He followed with another comment, writing: “Saving u the trouble.”
And he then attached a close-up of the T-shirt.
At a corner of the ‘higherconcsciousness’ inscription is the unmistakable marijuana plant, white in a circle of red.
Kuti, son of Fela Anikulapo Kuti, who regularly used marijuana and referred to it as grass, has also adopted the herb.
Kuti’s song, The Good Leaf, hails the properties of marijuana.
