After two hours of closed doors meeting in the Upper Chamber on Wednesday, the Senate again failed to approve the request for the extension of the state of emergency in Adamawa, Yobe and Borno States.
Also, the Senate summoned service chiefs to appear before the senators to give further explanation on the reason for the request for the extension of emergency rule in the states after 18 months.
President Goodluck Jonathan had on Tuesday sent a letter for the proclamation of emergency rule in Adamawa, Yobe and Borno States.
Jonathan hinged his request for extension on the fact that the security challenges, which necessitated the proclamation, have yet to abate.
