Security agencies must maintain neutrality among political parties – AIG Zone 11

The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 11, Ambrose Aisabor, on Tuesday evening said if security agencies in Nigeria are not biased to any political party, there will be no rascality in the country.

The AIG said this during a courtesy visit to the Governor of Osun State, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, at the Government House in Osogbo.

Aisabor, who oversees Z‎one 11, which comprises Osun, Oyo and Ondo States, described the recent victory of Aregbesola at the August 9 governorship election as well deserved and divine.

He said Osun State is the most security friendly and peaceful state in the country‎, adding that development can only thrive in an atmosphere of peace.

According to the police boss: “We will work with you to make sure there is tranquillity in Osun.

“We will ensure that the current peace in Osun is maintained.

“Osun State to me is the most security friendly in the country.

“Police will continue to sustain the peace.

“Osun is the only state in Nigeria that provided the police with 20 Armoured Personnel Carrier vehicles ‎in one fell swoop.

“We also want to assure people that information given to police will be adequately managed and secured.

“People should at all time see the police as their friend and at all time maintain cordial relationship with the police.”

Aisabor commended Aregbesola for his developmental stride in the state, noting that the governor is a man of the people, focused and executing projects that are visible to the people.

The governor, in his response, pointed out that all governments must guarantee the security of its people.

Aregbesola noted that the primary responsibility of any government is to guarantee security and welfare of the people, saying security is not only specific but absolute.

He argued that peace, growth and development all hinge on security ‎as the absence of security also translates into lack lack of development, redundancy and stunted growth.

Besides, peace and harmonious co-existence of the people can only be realised only where the enforcers and guarantors of laws do their duties diligently.

The governor said: “It is important for us to meet and review the security of the zone generally.

“There can’t be an effective management of security of a state without the cooperation of the adjourning states.

“Ensuring peaceful coexistence is essential for socialisation.

“T‎there can only be socialisation if we can guarantee peace.

“Development, growth and leisure all depend on security.”

Aregbesola added that his administration will continue to do its best to support all security agencies in recognition of their role to make life meaningful for the‎ people.
