The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project has insisted that the Senate President. Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, must stop the payment of salaries and allowances to convicted Senator Joshua Dariye.
Saraki had claimed that he lacks the power to stop the payment of salaries band allowances to the convicted former governor of Plateau State.
However, SERAP, in reaction to the statement credited to Senate President, argued that Saraki should have taken notice of the publicized judgement and stop the payment immediately.
According to the group, via its Twitter handle: “We disagree, and this is why: bukola Saraki
*should have taken notice of the publicised judgment & stopped payment immediately after conviction
*every citizen has a duty to report corruption, [paying Dariye $39,000 monthly allowance in prison is corruption.”
