The Minister of State for Federal Capital Territory, Oloye Olajumoke Akinjide, on Wednesday urged Nigerians to remain fervent in prayers for the unity and peaceful co-existence of the country.
The minister, in her Eid-el-Fitri message to residents of the FCT, felicitated with the Muslim faithful and enjoined them to uphold the Islamic tenets of obedience, love and peace.
Akinjide advised Nigerians to use the festive period to reflect on those societal values of humanity and selfless sacrifice that would enable them contribute meaningfully to the development of the nation.
She noted that Nigeria was making remarkable progress towards the fulfillment of its great potentials, backed by the Federal Government’s Transformation Agenda.
Akinjide said: “As we celebrate, we must be ready to make sacrifices for the good of the country and join hands with the Federal Government in the efforts to make the country great.
“We must also continue to show genuine love and respect for one another and reflect on the ideals of unity, cohesion and mutual understanding, as well as be humane to the less privileged members of the society.
“The FCT Administration remains committed in its desires to positively impart on the lives of the residents and also actualize its vision for the territory.
“We are working towards a better and more prosperous future for everyone in the FCT.”
The statement was issued by her Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Oluyinka Akintunde.
Akinjide assured residents of the FCT that the leadership of the FCT Administration would continue to improve on the giant strides recorded in the territory in the areas of security, infrastructural development, agriculture, primary healthcare delivery, community based health insurance scheme and social development, among others.
She wished FCT residents and Nigerians Happy Eid-el-Fitri.
