Royal fathers in Edo South have hailed the success of the July 14 election in the state, saying it is the first time in that an election will be so peaceful in the history of the state.
Speaking on behalf of the royal fathers, Ogiegbaen of Egbaen, His Royal Highness, Ogiemwonyi Ogiegben, described the victory of Governor Adams Oshiomhole in the July 14 Edo State election as a vote of confidence of Edo people on the administration.
According to him: “We the Enigies in Benin Kingdom are here to congratulate you on your overwhelming victory in the last election.
“I want to say that the achievement was made through the Almighty Father and the good work you have started.
“We hope that our Comrade messiah will in no distant time look forward to the highest level.
“We will continue to give our support and prayers to your administration.
“We also like to thank the Royal Majesty, the Oba of Benin, for his support.
“For the first time we are seeing an election where there was no death, no killing and brigandage.
“We know that you will sustain the development you have started.”
Oshiomhole thanked them for the visit and dedicated the victory to the good people of the state.
Oshiomhole said: “Across the length and breadth of the country, the victory is being celebrated for someone who is ready to work.
“The analysis of the result showed that I had more support in Benin Kingdom than in my local government.
“In Egor, I had 92 per cent, in Oredo 86 per cent and in Ikpoba Okha 88 per cent whereas in my local government I had 82 per cent.
“In both relative and absolute terms, the good people of Benin Kingdom showed me love.
“I will continue on my urban renewal programme and extend development to the seven Benin Local Governments Areas.
“The way we will work will indicate the debt of my love for the people of Benin Kingdom.
“I will never forget that you stood by me in uncommon time.”
