The Dragon Patrol Team ‘22’ of the Delta State Police Command killed a suspected armed robber in gun duel.
The team, covering Ogwashi-Uku/Nsukwa in Aniocha South Local Government Area of the state, foiled their plot before they unleashed mayhem on unsuspecting commuters along the route.
The gang, revealed the command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Celectina Kalu, had laid ambush at the junction of the highway along Kwale Expressroad by Oloh Village, before the team pounced on them.
At the command headquarters in Asaba on Wednesday, Kalu said the team swiftly mobilized to the scene but “on sighting the policemen the hoodlums opened fire on them.
“In the process, one of the armed robbers was fatally wounded while others escaped with bullet injuries.
“The injured suspect however gave up the ghost on the way to the hospital”.
Kalu listed the items recovered to include one English made double barrel gun, six live cartridges and three cutlasses.
She said efforts are on to track the fleeing gang members.
