My resignation, best contribution to APC – Baba-Ahmed

Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, the immediate former Chairman of Kaduna State Interim Committee of the All Progressives Congress, on Monday said his resignation was to ensure the survival of the party.
Baba-Ahmed made the remark in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Kaduna.
According to him, his resignation is also to abort the plans of “some people” bent on causing chaos and retarding the progress made by the party in the state.
He said: “For me, my resignation is the best contribution that I can make to this party.
“As far as I am concerned, I have told them, I have given them my reasons on why I am leaving.
“I have told them that they have made me personally an issue, not the leadership, not the IMC.
“It is only me they are talking about and since I appear to be the problem, it’s better for me to step aside so that the party will not suffer.
“I have resigned after very deep thoughts.
“This is not the kind of decision you will take in a rush.
“It is a very serious decision.
“I am leading a party in a very strong state that has the potential to form the government.
“So it is not something you take lightly.
“This is a very difficult decision for me.
“That is why I am stepping down as a chairman, but I will continue to be a member of the party.”
Baba-Ahmed pledged his continued loyalty to the party, adding that he would continue to contribute to its success ahead of the 2015 elections.
“Yes, we can defeat the Peoples Democratic Party, we will defeat PDP and we will replace PDP at Abuja and the states, but we will have to work hard, we have to fix our problems,” he said.
According to him, the delay in the inauguration of the state IMC by the national secretariat is partly responsible for the crisis in the party.
He cautioned the national leadership of the party against interfering in the affairs of state offices.
Baba-Ahmed said: “The national leaders should encourage states.
“They should fix problems that exists in states.
“There are a lot of problems in states and the national leadership of the party must be more active.
“Their conflict resolution mechanisms must be more effective.
“They need to be more alert to problems and they need to solve these problems.
“They should also stop their national officers from interfering in the affairs of the states.”
