The House of Representatives Committee on Interior said it would commence investigation into alleged irregularities in the issuance of travel documents in the country on March 22.
The Chairman of the committee, Rep. Jagaba Jagaba, told newsmen in Abuja on Monday that the investigation was sequel to a resolution of the House on December 16, 2015.
Jagaba explained that the thrust of the investigation was the agreements by the Interior Ministry with companies and individuals on issuance of travel documents.
He said the committee would investigate the involvement of government agencies in the issuance of international passports, residence permits, border surveillance and patrol.
According to Jagaba, the hearing is expected to receive the highest level of cooperation from the invited companies, including five commercial banks and the Nigeria Immigration Service.
He urged all those invited to honour the invitation, adding that companies expected included CONTEC, National E-Governance and Greater Washington.
He warned that the committee would invoke extant laws within its powers to ensure compliance.
