Nigeria Premier League campaigners, Remo Stars, have lost their goalkeepers’ trainer, Muhammed Abdullahi Perez.
The late coach, 40, according to the team’s media officer, Michael Onikute, was knocked down by a Toyota Hiase bus at Aiyepe junction in Ikenne on Friday night.
“It’s a sad day. Perez was unfortunately hit by a bus, driving against traffic. We rushed him to the Olabisi Onabanjo Teaching Hospital where he passed away around 10:30pm,” Onikute sobbed.
The team technical adviser, Fatai Osho, has also expressed shock at the sudden death of the coach.
“Still in shock. We discussed our movement to Akure for the Sunshine Stars match yesterday not knowing you won’t make it to this day. Rest in peace humble man,” Osho wrote on his Facebook page.
Coach Perez was survived by a wife and children.
He will be buried on Saturday (today), according to Islamic rites at the Muslim Cemetery, Ikenne.
