The Pro-Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Ondo State, Chief Oladele Akadiri, has appealed to the community to remain peaceful in their quest to rescue their abducted regent, Princess Oluwatoyin Omosowon.
Akadiri made the appeal on Monday at Akungba Akoko when he led other members of the university’s governing council and principal officers to the Alale Palace for a solidarity visit.
The chairman described the incident as “sudden and strange”, while condemning the act.
He commended the community’s leadership and youths for comporting themselves peacefully and prayed for the quick release of the regent by her abductors.
Responding, the spokesperson of the community, Chief Dele Olowogorioye, thanked the university authorities for their solidarity visit and support since the incident occurred.
Olowogorioye expressed optimism on the quick release of the monarch as promised by relevant security agencies and the government.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the regent was kidnapped on June 2 with three others in her car as they were on their away to Akure, the state capital.
