The Radio Television Theatre Art Workers’ Union (RATTAWU) said it is optimistic about the appointment of Ali Mohammed Ali as the new Managing Director (MD) of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
RATTAWU NAN Chapel Chairman, Deji Fadipe, told NAN in Lagos.
The organisation believed that the appointment of the new Managing Director would bring positive transformation to the Agency.
Fadipe said on the sidelines of the RATTAWU NAN Chapel Annual Week activities that the new NAN MD had a track record of being a transformational leader.
RATTAWU NAN Chapel commenced its annual week on October 23 with indoor games which included Table Tennis, smart puzzles, Brain teasers, among others.
The RATTAWU Week, which has the theme: “Enhancing Employee Development through Sustainable Skills”, will last for two weeks till November 3.
Fadipe said that the coming of Muhammad Ali as the Managing Director gave the staff very high hopes.
”We are highly optimistic that the new MD will actually bring positive transformation to the agency.
”We are looking forward to improved welfare for the members, particularly making the work environment very conducive and provision of work tools among others.
”The new MD is an astute administrator and a Journalist of repute and is correctly positioned to do well for the staff of the Agency,” he said.

Members of RATTAWU NAN Lagos Chapter at the opening of their RATTAWU Week.
Speaking at the annual event, the Chairman said that the RATTAWUU Week for the year 2023 would last for two weeks.
Fadipe said that the first week would be devoted to games, sports, and other brain stimulating activities.
He added that the second week would be for free medical outreach for members, agro-processing skill acquisition, capacity building, and the RATTAWU Awards Day/red carpet.
“The concept of starting the weeklong programme with sports and games is actually a concept borrowed from the State Council level.
“The essence is to keep members physically fit and to discover talents,” the chairman said.
Also, Kayode Olaitan, the Head of NAN, Lagos Office, congratulated the union, saying that they had been partners in progress in the Lagos office.
“I wish you a productive week full of safe and stimulating activities and discussion.
“I urge the Union to carry its members along in all its endeavours.
“I, hereby, wish you a successful RATTAWU week,” he said.
Also speaking, the Public Relations Officer of the chapter, Mr Sakiru Isiaka, said that the reason for introducing games into the weeklong activities was to exercise and keep members fit.
“All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.
“There is a need to relax and have fun after working for 365 days. The union loves to put smiles on the faces of its members.
Lekan Awoyemi, the Financial Secretary of the union, said the initiative was laudable.
He said that the members had shown excitement and commitment for the two-week programme. NAN
