A former Governor of Plateau State and representative of Plateau Central Senatorial District, Joshua Chibi Dariye, has berated those making uncomplimentary comments on the new policy of the Federal Government on modern livestocks farming in Nigeria.
In the same vein, the House of Representatives member representing Jos South-Jos East Federal Constituency, Edward Pwajok, has commended the Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong, for granting them the opportunity to make imput into the proposed adoption on the ranching policy in the state.
The lawmakers made these remarks during a meeting with Lalong at the Presidential Lodge in Rayfield, Jos, where Dariye described as unfortunate on the attitude of some stakeholders who have sufficient knowledge about the ranching policy, but are confusing citizens with half truth for political gains.
He said the state is above any one’s selfish interest, adding: “I keep telling people, Plateau is beyond an individual.
“Lar has come and gone.
“Dariye has come and gone.
“The former governor has come and gone.
“Lalong has come and he will go.
“So there is no need saying if it is not me, then I will spoil everything.
“No!”
Pwajok commended Lalong for subjecting the process to discussion and debate, which, according to him, are crucial for decision making on every issue in a democracy.
“In a democracy, we don’t war-war, we jaw-jaw,” he said.
The meeting, which had in attendance Lalong and the 14-member committee, met with the representatives of the National Assembly for another phase of the ongoing debate on the ranching policy.
Briefing the stakeholders, Lalong said the ranching policy, which is aimed at improving Nigeria’s economy and security, was originally proposed to the Federal Executive Council of the immediate past administration by a committee chaired by the then Governor of Benue State, Gabriel Suswam.
