The Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Zone 5, Lawan Jimeta, has appealed to members of the inspectorate, rank and file to shun the rumored planned Saturday strike by the personnel.
AIG Jimeta made the appeal on Thursday at the zonal command headquarters, Benin, during an interactive session with the officers and men serving in the headquarters.
The zone comprises police commands in Edo and Delta.
He also appealed to the junior officers to remain committed, dedicated and loyal to the Nigeria Police Force, exhibit high level of professionalism and eschew all acts of mutiny.
He stressed that the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Baba, was very much committed to the welfare of police personnel.
The AIG said police authorities were working assiduously to ensure that salary increment and other allowances approved for them by the Federal Executive Council were speedily implemented.
He gave the assurance that plans for adequate distribution of kits, operational equipment as well as other accoutrements to all personnel had been concluded.
Jimeta also told the officers and men that measures had been put in place for the renovation of barracks and establishment of better cooperative facilities for all serving police officers.
The AIG urged members of the public in the zone to go about their lawful duties without fear.
He said police in both states would continue to discharge their duties as expected by ensuring public safety and protection of lives and property.
