Prophetess remanded for murder

An Akure Magistrates’ Court in Ondo State on Wednesday remanded a 33-year-old prophetess, Victoria Abiodun, at Olokuta Prison for allegedly killing one Oguntibeju Victor, 34.
The magistrate, Daomi Adebisi, ordered the remand of the accused pending the receipt of legal advice from the state Director of Public Prosecutions.
The prosecutor, ASP Isah Atanegbe, had earlier told the court that the accused conspired and committed murder by administering a prepared herb on Victor, leading to his death.
Atanegbe said that the accused committed the offence on April 10 at about 12.35am at Saka Ibrahim Street, Akure.
According to him, the offence is contrary to Section 316(5), punishable under Section 311 of the Criminal Code Cap 37 Vol. 1 Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.
The accused was not represented by a counsel and her plea was not taken by the court.
The case was adjourned until June 5, for legal advice.
