Progress made in meeting with CBN over missing $49.8b – NNPC

Farouk Ibrahim of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation has said that some progress has been achieved in the reconciliation meeting between the corporation and Central Bank of Nigeria over allegations that $49.8 billion was missing from the Corporations accounts records.
Ibrahim, the General Manager (Public Affairs) in NNPC, who said this on Tuesday while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja, however, said that meeting was still underway.
NAN reports that the meeting was convened, following the order of the Presidency to probe allegations that $49.8 billion oil revenue between January 2012 and July 2013 was purportedly missing.
Ibrahim expressed the hope that the reconciliation meeting would end positively, while unravelling the mystery behind the controversy.
The meeting, which was chaired by Dandali Kifasi, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, was attended by officials from the CBN as well as the ministries of finance and petroleum resources.
Others in attendance were representatives from the Federal Inland Revenue Service, the Department of Petroleum Resources, the Budget Office, the NNPC and some presidential aides.
