Prof. Alakali emerges NCP Senatorial candidate for Benue North East

Prof. Joseph Alakali has picked the National Conscience Party ticket to contest the Benue North East senatorial seat.
Alakali emerged winner of the primary election conducted through a voice vote on Friday in Makurdi.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Alakali picked the ticket after the Returning Officer, Stephen Hemba, put a question to the delegates asking those supporting him to say “aye”.
Hemba, after listening to  the `ayes’ and `nays’ voices, ruled in favour of the later and endorsed Alakali.
In his acceptance speech, Alakali promised to serve faithfully if elected in 2019.
NAN reports that Emmanuel Ikyoga, an aspirant to the Kwande West State Assembly seat, also picked the NCP ticket unopposed.
Ikyoga, who promised to make the constituents happy if elected, promised to pay special attention to poverty eradication.
The party’s National official, Abdul Usman, said that the candidates had the potential of taking Benue to the next level because of their academic attainment.
Meanwhile, Wemi Jones and Henry Abimbola have been elected as the All Progressives Congress candidates for the Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu and Yagba Federal Constituencies in seats Kogi.
The duo who are seeking first tenures, picked the party’s tickets during the state’s primary elections conducted in Kabba and Isanlu in Yagba East Local Government.
