The National Chairman, Progressive Peoples Alliance, Peter Ameh, on Friday called on President Goodluck Jonathan to review the list of the nominees for the upcoming national conference.
Briefing newsmen in Abuja after the party’s National Working Committee meeting, Ameh said the composition of the delegates was unfair to other political parties.
He said that the party was not happy with the nomination of only five out of the 25 registered political parties were allocated 10 delegates.
He said: “The constitution gives all political parties equal rights and as such we don’t see any reason why some political parties are left out of the National Conference.
“We have met up with the laid down guidelines by the Independent National Electoral Commission, so it is a disrespect that the Presidential Advisory Committee left out our party from the process.
“As a law abiding political party, we will not allow any of our members to be disenfranchised in the process of decision making in this country.”
Ameh said there was the need for all political stakeholders and not a few to dialogue on issues that would be beneficial to all Nigerians.
However, he said: “We (PPA) support the national confab.
“At the conference, we should be able to discuss issues and proffer solutions for the development of our country.”
On the 2015 general election, Ameh said the release of the timetable by INEC was timely and assured Nigerians that the PPA would participate in all the elections.
“We have instructed our state chapters to prepare and put all structures on ground for us to effectively participate in the forthcoming general election,” he said.
But he advised INEC to consider conducting elections in one day to save cost and time.
He said: “If elections are conducted in one day, it will be to the benefit of our economy.
“We are spending too much money on duplicating functions that could be done in one day.”
Contributing, the party’s Deputy National Chairman, South, Kehinde Edun, explained that the meeting was the first held after the resignation of the party’s former National Chairman, Sam Nkire.
Edun said: “With the new leadership of the party, we now have a new philosophy, a philosophy of carrying everybody along.”
Also speaking, the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Dr. Vitalis Ajumbe, said: “In 2015, the party will do great.”
Ajumbe called on members of the party to remain focused.
