The Delta State Police Command has recovered a suspected stolen vehicle, a fabricated double barrel pistol and live cartridges.
The was disclosed in a signed statement by the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Edafe Bright in Asaba.
It was learnt that on Sunday at about 10pm, a patrol team attached to Sapele Division while on “Operation show of force” saw a Toyota Camry spider car with reg NO. GRA 291 RL being driven in a suspicious manner, went after the vehicle and chased them to Olympia area.
According to Bright, the hoodlums on noticing that the policemen were chasing them, opened fire on the team, which was replied by the police.
He said the hoodlums, who could not withstand the fire power of the police, abandoned the said vehicle and fled into the bush.
He noted that upon searching the vehicle, one locally made double barrel pistol and five live cartridges were recovered.
The PPRO added that investigation has commenced and efforts are in top gear towards arresting the fleeing hoodlums.
