Two members of a four-man robbery gang that has been terrorising Aladja, Udu Local Government Area of Delta State, have been shot dead.
The operatives of state police command fell the suspected bandits during a gun duel on Owhosa Street, Aladja.
The dangerous dimension the face-off assumed made the police to swiftly mobilize to the scene.
The Eagle Online gathered that a resident of the locality tipped the police with a distress call.
On sighting the police, the suspects opened fire and in the ensuing gun battle, two of the gang members were killed while two others escaped.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Lucky Uyabeme, an ASP, confirmed the incident, saying efforts have been intensified to track down the fleeing gang members.
Items recovered from them included one locally made pistol, one cut-to-size single barrel gun and one double barrel gun as well as three live ammunitions and one expended cartridge.
The PPRO said one Eric Uredolor and Pius Eghwere have also been arrested for their involvement in the kidnapping of one Kayode Obuhoro.
The victim, he said, was waylaid while driving his Highlander Jeep with registration number JJJ 806 BD around Obosi Layout, Osubi, near Warri.
Uyabeme said the suspects have since confessed to the crime, even as they have led police detectives to their hideout where their partners in crime engaged the police in a gun duel, during which one of them was gunned down and the other fatally wounded.
He listed two cut to size guns and the jeep as part of the items recovered.
He hinted that a kidnapped hotelier in Ogwashi-Uku, Adeke Ugbo, has been rescued unhurt and without the payment of ransom.
