Anti-Fraud detectives attached to the Katsina Police Command have arrested a 19-year-old, Hussaini Suleiman, described as a “serial fraudster”.
It was gathered that the suspect was arrested on March 30, 2022 following a tip-off provided by members of the public.
The Katsina State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Gambo Isah, said in a statement: “The suspect specialised in swapping ATM cards of unsuspecting members of the public at ATM points.
“Nemesis caught up with the suspect when he deceitfully swapped the ATM card of one Abdullahi Musa of Kofar Doka Zaria in Kaduna State with a view to stealing the victims’ money from his bank account.
“In the course of the investigation, a Honda Accord (Hennessey) motor vehicle, ash in colour, and 30 ATM cards were recovered from the suspect.
“He further mentioned one Abba of kabala quarters and Umar alias Itaka of zaria city, all of Kaduna state, now at large, as his accomplice.
“Effort is on to arrest the fleeing suspects.”
Isah noted that also on March 31, 2022, the command succeeded in arresting Jamilu Muhammed, 40, of Unguwar Dahiru via Funtua LGA; Muttaka Sabi, 22; and Rabi, 30, all of the same address.
He said: “Nemesis caught up with the syndicate when they were intercepted by a team of Policemen on routine patrol along Dana steel rolling company road in a Golf III wagon motor vehicle loaded with iron rods suspected to be stolen.
“During the course of the investigation, it was revealed that the iron rods are property of Triacta Construction Company and the suspects confessed to having bought the said iron rods from one John Micheal, 32, who is a storekeeper, and also from Hassan Ali, 29, who is the company’s foreman and Elpha Sunday, 27, who is their accomplice.
“Others are Abdulkadir Aliu, 26, the security guard, Buhari Bala 27, another security guard and Hamisu Usman, 42, another security guard of the company.
“The suspects confessed to having bought the iron rod from the above-mentioned staff.”
