Kano Pillars goalkeeper, Theophilus Afelokhai, has won the maiden Soccer Press Player of the Month Award in the Nigeria Professional Football League.
In a poll conducted via social media, Twitter and Facebook, and online, coordinated by its Resident NPFL Expert, Andrew Randa, the former U-23 safe hands beat all comers to nick the monthly award that comes with a token of N30,000 and a certificate.
A panel of NPFL experts made up of avid commentators and followers – Emeka Nwani, China Acheru, Dunmodi Okonta and Abdeljelili Ogunmuyiwa – acted as consultants to make sure that the award was fool-proof and credible.
Theophilus Afelokhai was instrumental to Kano Pillars’ fantastic start to the season that has propelled them to the summit of the table.
During the course of the polls, his heroics when Pillars beat Wikki Tourists away at Bauchi and his Man of the Match performance against ABS at Ilorin put him head and shoulder above others to win the first monthly award for the new NPFL season.
